项目摘要

本研究は、ニューヨークを中心とするミュージアムにおいて「ファッション展」がいかに成立し、美術館制度のなかに位置付けられているのかを明らかにするものである。前年度（平成29年度）までの研究計画進行を踏まえ、平成30年度は、ニューヨーク州立ファッション工科大学所属の共同研究者・川村由仁夜氏および同大学美術館学芸員等と研究実施についての協議を行った。そして、平成30年度９月からニューヨーク州立ファッション工科大学を拠点として、約半年間の共同研究の実施の詳細について検討した。期間中にはファッション展企画に携わるニューヨークのミュージアムの学芸員の講演およびワークショップを開催する計画を立てた。具体的には、メトロポリタン美術館衣装部門のステファニー・クラマー氏に講演を依頼し、続いてニューヨーク州立ファッション工科大学美術館ディレクターや同大学のファッション史研究者に講演を依頼することとした。一方で、日本においても国内のミュージアムを対象とする「ファッション展」研究の実施について、京都服飾文化研究財団を中心とする学芸員・研究者に研究調査の協力と実施の要請を行った。特に同年ニューアーク美術館で開催された同財団のファッション展を手掛かりとして、日米のファッション展研究の推進について協議を行った。平成29年度から平成30年度にかけて、日米双方の研究者および学芸員と研究実施にむけて準備を整えたが、平成30年度研究実施時において研究代表者がアメリカへ渡航不能となったため、やむなく研究計画を中止することとした。その後、平成30年度後半には、日本国内においてメトロポリタン美術館アーキヴィストやファッション工科大学美術館ディレクターとミーティングを行い、これまでの成果を今後も発展的に継承していくことについて同意を得た。
