本年度は論文「北海道木材化学株式会社の設立と破綻―木材加水分解構想成立の歴史的条件―」(A4用紙27枚)を完成させた。本論文では，1950年代から60年代にかけての日本において，石炭・石油以外の天然資源を活用し，化学工業を勃興させることを中央政府・地方自治体・民間企業が構想していた史実に着目し，代表的第3セクター企業である北海道木材化学を事例に，木材加水分解の構想が成立した歴史的条件を考察した。考察の結果，第1に，北海道庁は，中央政府に対して積極的な働きかけを行うことにより木材加水分解の研究開発に向けた補助金を獲得したこと，第2に，事業計画の妥当性が北海道東北開発公庫から疑念視されたなかで会社設立が強行されたこと，第3に，工場トラブルによる操業停止という内生的要因と，開放経済体制への移行や他社の技術革新に伴う製品市場・原料市場の変化という外生的要因により，事業が再起不能に陥った史実を明らかにした。そして木材加水分解の構想が成立した要因として，(1)1950年代の国内経済の条件（砂糖の保護関税，「木材資源利用合理化方策」，ブドウ糖工業の技術制約），(2)1950年代の北海道経済の条件（田中敏文北海道知事による林業政策，道内未利用広葉樹の存在，民間投資の不足）を指摘した。本論文は博士学位請求論文のうち1章分となる。このほか、2017年度に調査・執筆・学会報告を行った，静岡県の製材業者の協同組合に関する論文「戦後日本における製材産地の組織化―清水港木材産業協同組合を事例に」が査読付学術雑誌『経営史学』53巻3号，2018年12月，3-28頁に掲載された。
