当該年度は、高等学校国語科において新学習指導要領のもと新たに設けられた必履修科目である「言語文化」の開始年であった。そこで、１７種類発行されている「言語文化」の教科書の内容を精査して、琉球和文学が教材として導入できるかを検討した。また、次年度には選択科目として「古典探究」が開始される。こちらはまだ教科書を入手することはできないが、各教科書会社のホームページや教科書展示会を利用して教材内容を確認し、こちらについても琉球和文学の教材としての導入の余地があるかどうかを検討した。その結果、いずれの科目も、古文の授業が従来陥りがちであった「知識・技能」偏重から脱し、「深い学び」を通して「思考力・判断力・表現力」および「学びに向かう力、人間性等」を育成する方向に舵を切っていることが確認できた。たとえば、数研出版から発行されている教科書『言語文化』では、百人一首の歌について英訳を掲載し、原文の和歌と英訳とを比較させることを通して、日本語と英語の違いやそれらの言語の使い手の発想の違いを考えさせようとしている。このような比較文学的な視点からの教材や言語活動を取り入れることで、「古文としての古文」ではなく「言語文化としての古文」へのアクセスを図っているのである。このような考え方に立てば、琉球和文学を教材として導入してくることは十分に可能であるという手応えを得ることができた。ただし、これを論文等の形にするには至らなかった。なお、上述の「言語文化」「古典探究」教科書調査を活かして、研究会で「新学習指導要領下の高等学校国語科における古典（古文）の学び」という題目の口頭発表をすることができた。
