1. 最終年度となる今年は、2019年9月から引き続き、8月末までの間スペインのバスク大学に客員研究員として滞在した。その後、8月～9月は米国ボストンを中心に史料調査を行い、9月～3月は日本にて研究を行った。2. バスク大学での滞在中は、アーカイブでの調査を主目的とし、採用2年目までに調査してきた1798年までの史料に加え、1808年までの港湾史料を追った。滞在期間中は、受入教員であるXabier Lamikiz氏の助言を受けて研究を進めた（スペイン語と英語）。この調査を踏まえて、ビルバオ商人による貿易を、長期的なパースペクティヴで見通すことが可能になった。3. バスク大学における1年の研究滞在の成果を、6月にバスク大学経済経営学部経済史・経済理論専攻主催のセミナーで報告した。これにより、現地の経済史研究者との議論を行うことができた。4. 8月～9月には、ビルバオの貿易相手の史料を用いて当時の貿易を立体的に明らかにするという目的のため、米国にて史料調査を行った。ピーボディ・エセックス・ミュージアム（セイラム）の付属機関であるフィリップス図書館（ロウリー）ではセイラムにおいて記録された海事史料を収集した。アメリカ国立公文書記録管理局ボストン分館では、マーブルヘッド・ビバリーの税関における港湾史料と、セイラム・リンの税関における港湾史料を収集した。5. 採用3年目の活動を通して、以下の事が明らかになった。(1)1756-1808年におけるビルバオ商人の貿易内容と戦争ごとに変化するネットワークについて。(2)同時期のセイラム・マーブルヘッドの商人達の貿易と、アメリカ独立革命前後における貿易ネットワークと商品の変について。最終的に、ビルバオとセイラム・マーブルヘッドとの間の貿易がスペイン経済に及ぼした影響や、大西洋世界での意義を考察し、博士論文としてまとめる予定である。
