项目摘要

本年度は、幕府の全国的な油の流通統制政策における大坂の流通拠点としての特質を、油・種物取引を担う油問屋と種物問屋に即して明らかにすることを課題とした。そのうち種物問屋にかかわる成果をまとめた（①）。また、大坂に油を供給する産地のひとつだった平野郷の史料調査のため、所在確認に着手した（②）。なお、大坂とその近郊農村における権力と民衆の関係や、生産・流通構造の分析対象を広げる試みとして、大坂城の屎尿処理を担った鴫野村の文書や、天満堀川の開削以後に堀川を管理する川沿いの町々が作成した堀川会所文書を分析し、国際学会での発表を行った（③）。以下、特に①③について述べる。①種物問屋仲間の構造分析種物問屋仲間について、大阪府立中之島図書館蔵の株仲間名前帳を用いて構成員の推移をデータ化し、大坂の諸品目商人に関する先行研究や地誌と対照した。この作業を通して、種物問屋は、幕府の強い統制下におかれた油の原料を扱うために、統制方針の変更によって商業上の特権が著しく制限され構成員が流動的になること、その取扱品目は種物に単一化せず、取引先の積み荷を広く荷受けしていたこと等を指摘し、従来の研究で描かれてきた問屋の発展段階のシェーマを、取引品目に即して見直す必要性を提起した。③大坂と近郊農村の史料紹介国際的な活躍が期待できる研究者の育成事業「周縁的社会集団と近代」（代表：塚田孝）が上海大学と連携して開催した国際学会にて、大坂や近郊農村に残された史料を紹介し、その分析成果を発表した。鴫野村文書については、大坂城の屎尿処理が近隣の村によってどのように担われていたかを紹介した。また堀川会所文書を用いて、天保９年に幕府が救済措置として実施した天満堀川の延伸工事が、周辺の環境や土地利用にどのような影響を与えたかを紹介し、中国や日本、中東の近世・近代都市を専門とする研究者から示唆的なコメントを得た。
