本研究の目的は、第一に、大坂を拠点として畿内周辺に広がる油・種物の流通構造を、生産・流通の担い手の視座から復元すること、その際に、幕府の統制政策との関係も含めて総合的に描くことである（①）。第二に、これらの分析を踏まえて、従来は明治前期の商業規則の分析に偏っていた移行期研究を見直し、商人の仲間の史料も分析に組み込み、近世から近代に至る経済社会の展開を具体的に跡付けることも課題とする（②）。令和4年度は、まず、和泉国泉郡池田下村で慶応3年に作成された村中規定連印帳を分析し、油の一産地でもあった池田下村の幕末期の状況を明らかにした。規定の条目からは、農民層分解が深刻化した結果、地主－小作間の矛盾が顕著になり、日雇いを含む奉公人に依拠した商品作物生産や絞油業を含む加工業が定着する一方で、若者や奉公人による博奕や飲酒、祭礼での逸脱行為等を規制できなくなっている村社会の状況が浮き彫りとなった。背景にある地域社会の状況を念頭に、移行期研究を進めることが可能となった（②に該当）。また、難波村や九条村など、大坂近郊の町続在領の絞油株をめぐって、油方支配を担う大坂町奉行や領主にあたる幕領代官、居村、絞油屋仲間との関係性を検討し、口頭発表を行った（①に該当）。本来、絞油屋でない者が原料の種物の売買に従事することは幕府から認められていない。しかし、大坂近郊では「直買渡世」を名目として絞油株を取得し、大坂町奉行の認知の元で種物売買に従事した例を見いだした。これまで検討した岸和田藩領、住吉社領など、個別領主の承認を得て種物を集荷し、絞油屋仲間に売り継ぐ非絞油業者の事例を見てきたが、そうした庇護を得られない町続在領では、却って絞油株の取得という正攻法でしか売り継ぐ業者を包摂できなかった可能性が高いことを指摘した。

The background of this study is the idea of regional society and the transition period.
