项目摘要

1、後藤艮山の「一気留滞」論に則した「順気」などの治療法について検討した。彼における「復古」のあり方というべき「古道」は、民間治療法や身近なものを用いた治療を重視した。彼がこうした医学を志したのは、庖犧・神農への回帰を目指したためであり、そこに彼の「復古」がもつ特徴を求めることができる。2、艮山の弟子であった香川修庵が「自我作古」を唱えるに至った経緯、またその「自我作古」に基づく『一本堂行余医言』を著すにあたり、いかなる手法を用い、どのような書籍を参照したのかについて考察した。彼は伊藤仁斎の影響下「儒医一本論」を唱えて、孔子・孟子に「医」への「復古」を求めた。これに基づき彼は「自己作古」という手法を提唱し、「日用」を重視する医学を形成していったのである。3、山脇東洋が主導した腑分けに注目した。腑分けは、西洋医学との関係の中で論じられてきたが、それは彼にとって「復古」の一環であったといえる。彼はその腑分けに基づく成果を『蔵志』として刊行したが、これは大きな波紋を生じさせていくこととなる。つまり、古方派医学の「復古」は、決して『傷寒論』と単線的に結びつけられるものではなく、より多様性をもつものであった。またそれは同時代の知的環境の中に位置付けてこそ正確な評価をし得る。くわえて重要なのは「復古」に基づく医学が、しかし決して単なる古典への依存ではなかったということである。むしろ古方派医家らは、「復古」と「革新」の間を往復していた。彼らは「古」に医学の「規範」を求める一方で、その「古」を多様に選び取り、自らの実践に基づく医学を「古」に投影し、「古」を自身の医学に利用しようとしたのである。すなわち、その「復古」的医学思想には、彼ら自身による「発明」あるいは再創造、再構成の契機が取り込まれていたといわねばならない。
