本研究では養育者が乳児に対して心を見いだしてしまう傾向および養育者による乳児の内的状態への言及がどのように変化し，その変化の軌跡が情動側面も含めた自己・他者の心の理解にいかに関連するか検討することを目的とした。70組の養育者とその乳児。参加者は東京都内の子育てひろばおよび子育てNPO法人の子育てひろばでのチラシの配布により参加者の月齢0か月-6か月児とその保護者の募集を行った。基本的には家庭訪問による調査を行ったが，希望がある場合には大学内の実験室にて調査を行った。ただし，アタッチメントの測定にあたっては自宅および普段行きなれている近所の公園・児童館での調査をおこなった。月齢4か月未満で調査希望があった場合，月齢4か月未満の時点（月齢2か月，月齢4か月）で一度調査をおこない，その後は月齢6か月，9か月，15か月，18か月，24か月で調査を行った。各月齢ごとにMind-mindednessの測定（篠原，2006）と養育者による乳児の内的状態への言及とその適切性（Meins ＆　Fernyhough, 2010）の測定を行った。また月齢6か月時点ではやりとり中断時の乳児の反応の測定，月齢15か月時点および月齢18か月ではアタッチメントの安定性の測定，月齢24か月時点では，玩具片付け場面における親子間での情動調整の過程を検討した。現在70組の参加者にたいする調査を実施中である。すべての参加者に対して月齢6か月時点での調査が終了し，月齢18か月時点の調査が15組を残して済んでいる。現在は24か月時点の調査を中心に実施中である。また，評定者間一致率を算出の上，現在は月齢６か月時点の動画の分析を行っている。
