项目摘要

二年目となる本年度は、井上靖の西域物を中心に、中央アジア探検及び敦煌学の発展が西域物の創作過程で果たした役割に着目することで、日本近代に誕生した西域物の創作の原点を探るとともに、各作品の典拠を考察し、敦煌学と日本近代文学との関わりを解明した。具体的に得られた研究成果は以下の通りである。①井上靖の後期の「西域物」に属す「僧伽羅国縁起」と「羅刹女国」の二作品を取り上げ、二作品と典拠資料『解説西域記』と比較しながら、作者の創作を中心に考察した。典拠には、宗教的要素が多いが、井上靖の処理を通して、原典の宗教性が弱められ、それにともない物語の教訓性がより一層強化された。物語の創作方法の追求、主題の解明などにより、二作品の再評価を試みた。②松岡譲と敦煌との繋がりを考察するため、長岡市立中央図書館で、松岡関係の資料調査を行った。これらの資料に基づいて、未公開資料のリストを作成した。また、前年度で松岡譲の長女・半藤末利子氏にインタビューをした時の実録を整理し、『新潟県文人研究』に発表した。③今まで得た研究成果を二回の国際学会で口頭発表をし、加筆修正を経て博士論文を完成した。今までの比較研究や典拠研究を進めることにより、日本近代文学における西域物の誕生をより広い視野から捉えることが可能になった。そのうえで、作品の創作方法や主題を考察し、日本近代文学における西域物の文学的価値を検討した。
