项目摘要

本年度は、前年度の研究成果を踏まえつつ、主に以下の二点を研究課題とした。つまり、①ルソーの初期理論的作品における自己像と読者像の分析、②自伝的作品の再検討、である。以下に研究成果と今後の展望を報告する。研究テーマ①については、前年度で得られた研究成果の発展と総括を試みた。『学問芸術論』から『不平等起源論』に至る初期の理論的作品における読者像の変遷を検討し、ルソーが対話相手とする読者層が次第に拡大していることを示した。そうした読者像の変化は、ルソーがアカデミーないしは哲学者へとむけた批判的精神の増大と軌を一にしている。一貫して、読者に求められる資質はルソーの作品を正しく理解することに他ならない。しかし、読者層の拡大は彼らへの歩み寄りを余儀なくさせ、結果としてルソーは読者に自説の是非を委ねることとなったのである。以上の研究成果を、日本フランス語フランス文学会全国大会、および日仏若手啓蒙思想研究共同セミナーで口頭発表した。しかし、この研究は未だ完遂されたとは言い難い。本研究のキーワードとなる「読者」、「自己像」といった概念の整理と共に、より広範な文献を参照しての議論が必要となる。とりわけ「自己像」については、作中の作家像と、18世紀当時に公衆に流布していたルソーのイメージを比較検討する必要があるだろう。研究テーマ②において、報告者はルソーのマイナーな自伝的作品及び草稿の分析に着手した。また、自伝研究についてはフランスで研究調査を単独で行い、日本で参照するのが難しい文献を渉猟している。分析の結果、ルソーが理想とする自己像、読者像の移り変わりが明らかとなった。しかし、この変化を単なる直線的なものととらえるのではなく、ルソーの思想との関係で今後捉え直す必要がある。本研究テーマの研究成果については、来年度以降、学会および学術誌での発表を予定している。
