本年度は、「「中本」受容と大島屋伝右衛門―版元、そして貸本問屋として―」（『近世文藝』109号、日本近世文学会、2019年1月）で指摘したとおり、大島屋伝右衛門と関係が深いだけでなく、その書籍流通にも多大なる影響を与えた丁子屋平兵衛を対象とする調査・研究に着手した。調査はCOVID-19の影響により、ほとんど実施できなかったものの、文化5年（1808）の時点で貸本屋世話役であった丁子屋が、後に貸本問屋となり、その地位を確かなものにしていくまでの過程について考察することができた。具体的には、丁子屋が携わった書籍の出版と売捌、貸本屋に向けられた販路および広域的な書籍流通網の形成といった点から、丁子屋が貸本屋世話役から貸本問屋へとなっていく過程を明らかにした。この内容は、COVID-19の影響で実施できなかった調査を実施し、調査で得られたデータを加えて再考した上で、来年度中に論文化する予定である。また、昨年度に行った口頭発表をもとに「黎明期の初代大川屋錠吉」（『文学・語学』230号、全国大学国語国文学会、2020年12月）を発表した。
