项目摘要

本研究は、日本からインドネシア・バリ島に伝播した大正琴を起源とする楽器とその楽曲、演奏グループを研究対象としてきた。2022年度は、新型コロナ感染症が終息しつつある中、2022年6月から活動を開始したバリ島カランガッスム県の県庁所在地アムラプラで活動を行う演奏グループ「ムルドゥ・コマラ Merdu Komala」を対象にして、その再開された活動について調査を行った。このグループはこれまでも調査を継続してきたグループであるが、2020から感染症の影響によりほぼ2年間にわたり活動を休止してきた。しかしその間に楽器の改良を行い、弦数を少なくした楽器を製作し、より演奏がしやすい楽器に改良した。さらにはこれまでなかった太い弦のみの低音楽器を製作した。また主要メンバーによる子どもの育成が継続的に行われ演奏者の世代間継承に取り組んだ。このようないわゆる感染症まん延時に発揮した「レジリエンス」により、活動開始後はアンサンブルの音量、音質に大きな変化を与えることになった。変化の一つは10代の世代の誕生である。これまではグループ発足時のメンバーを中心に10年以上の活動を行ってきたが、新しい世代が加わったことによる活気が加わったことにある。また活動再開後は、各地からの演奏依頼が多く、感染症流行前と変わらない演奏状況が生まれ、さらには、カランガッスム王宮を訪れる観光客に対して、毎週日曜日に定期公演が行われるようになったことである。またこれまでは演奏してこなかった西洋音楽の音階を用いた作品（国家など）の演奏を始めるようになり、コードを演奏するという新たな発想が生まれた。現在はまだまだ模索中であるが、新型コロナ感染症を得て新たな活動が展開されていることを、2022年度の研究では明らかにした。
