项目摘要

本研究で計画していた聞き取り調査は、インフォーマントが島嶼部居住の高齢者であるため、新型コロナウィルス感染拡大防止へ慎重な配慮を要することから、渡島の予定を立てることが難しく、研究計画から外さざるを得なかった。こうした変更をカバーするために、昨年度からは過去に行った奄美大島出身の湾生（または幼少期に渡台した人）のライフヒストリーの聞き取り調査結果を洗い直して、本研究に関係するような証言を拾い集める作業を進めてきたが、今年度は聞き取り調査に再着手することができた。当該インフォーマントに対しては、2020年度に電話での聞き取りを行った際はやりとりがうまくいかず断念した経緯があったが、本人から台湾居住時の写真が出てきて思い出したことがあるので当時の話を聞いてほしいとの連絡を受けたこと、インフォーマントの同居家族が増えて調査に対して家族の協力を得られるようになったことから、電話でファミリーヒストリーについて聞き取り調査を試みた。1回の聞き取りはそれほど長い時間とれないため、内容を細かく限定してのやりとりではあるが、想定よりは順調に話を聞くことができている。奄美諸島出身者の台湾での職業は他の在台日本人同様に公務員が多く、また製糖会社勤務者も目立つが、当該インフォーマントの父は台湾南部の都市部で会社経営をしていたことがわかった。同郷者団体との関わりについてどのぐらい迫れるかはまだ明確ではないが、台湾居住経験者から直接話を聞ける機会が失われていくなか、貴重な機会を得られた。引き揚げまでの経験をひととおり記録すべく、調査の継続を要する。雑誌『奄美大島』における外地への移動に関係する記事の抽出は大方完了しており、データ確認と公開に向けた準備を進めている。
