项目摘要

2021年12月に開催された米国地球物理学連合(AGU) Fall Meetingにおいて、研究協力者である島村と末廣、および、AGU副会長Hansonをコンビナーとしてユニオンセッション「知の創造の価値とは何か？研究評価の理想と現実」がオンライン実施され、研究代表者山中が日本地球惑星科学連合(JpGU)と米国地球物理学連合(AGU)に所属する研究者の研究に対する認識を比較した招待講演を行った。この点においては、おおむね順調に研究計画の進展があった。このことなどを通じて、資金配分機関等の研究者を取り巻く状況、例えば「研究者の研究費獲得」と「研究者の社会に対する説明責任」に関する理解が進んだ。しかし、本研究の中核となる、世界中の研究者から「研究者の社会に対する説明責任」について、AGU Fall Meetingがオンライン実施されたため、本来実施したかった対面による聞き取り調査が出来なかった。研究協力者のもとで、研究課題「地球科学における研究評価の国際チューニング：地の文化と指標の創造」と本課題をあわせると4回のユニオンセッションをJpGUかAGUで実施し、その機会にアンケートや聞き取り調査を行ってきたが、それらを実施することが難しくなった。また、2020年5月に行われた欧州地球科学連合(EGU)、AGU、JpGU等の共同宣言に対する認識を明らかにしたこれまでのアンケート分析にもとづいて、研究者の認識を問うことにしていたが、共同宣言やアンケートからの1年以上経ち、コロナ禍のもとで、その過程を踏まえた聞き取り調査の速やかな実施が難しくなった。
