本年度は、関連する文献を整理しつつ、実業練習生のデータベースの作成を中心に作業を進めた。その一方で、データベースの完成時にどのような分析が可能かを検討を進める途上で、実証経済学における経済史研究のあり方や方法論的課題についても議論を深める機会があった。実業練習生のデータベース作成が年度の終わりにほぼ終了したことにより、大まかな考察へと進むことができた。その考察の結果については、2023年3月、「農商務省海外実業練習生制度の総合的研究」科研費研究会（代表・関西学院大学・木山実氏）において、報告し議論する機会に恵まれた。途上の研究を報告する機会がこれまでなかったため、資料やデータの整理、分析方法について、専門家の方々から多くの意見が寄せられ、今後の指針を得ることが可能となった。データベースの作成と同時に、研究の枠組みについて検討を進め、質的なデータベースをいかにして数量（計量）分析できるかという課題を検討しを幅広くサーベイする過程で、経済史研究の方法論についての論考をまとめることができた。その論考では、『次世代の実証経済学』（大塚啓二郎ほか編、日本評論社、近刊）に寄稿し、経済史研究における昨今の方法論の実態や変化、方法論における欧米と日本との比較について論じた。執筆の過程で、経済史のみならず経済学の他分野の研究者達による多面的な視点からのコメントを得ることができた。その結果、本データベースから事実を発見することと同時に、数量化して分かること、さらには可能であれば計量化することが、経済史・経営史のみならず経済学の分野で本研究の理解が深まるという認識を得た。さらに日本の在来産業の近代化（＝「日本化」過程）を相対化するために、リヨン第二大学（Dr. Vernus Pierre, Prof. Manuela Martini)との共同研究を継続し、次年度開催のワークショップのための準備を進めた。
