2022年度は前年度の文献調査から得た情報が実態と整合しているかについてインドネシアバリ島での現地調査を行った。バリヒンドゥ教徒が多く住むこの地域では、神々への供物は日常生活の一部となっており、これまでの調査で宗教的儀式のお供え物に使用される植物は、方位と色の関係性を持っていることがわかったが、毎日の供物であり、最も大量に必要となる「チャナン」には方位という意味は現状ないことを現地で確認できた。さらにチャナンを含め、祭祀にかかわる植物がどのように入手、あるいは栽培されているのか主にマリーゴールド、ホウセンカ、アジサイについて調査した。マリーゴールドはネパールヒンドゥ同様にバリヒンドゥでも利用頻度は高い、しかし、ネパールでは主に花序を用いるが、バリ島では小花が使われるのがほとんどである。チャナンに入っていた黄色の花はほぼマリーゴールドを使うことが分かった。さらに利用頻度の高いホウセンカは、市場では赤、白、ピンク、紫の花が色別に販売されており、価格はマリーゴールドよりも安く売られている。ホウセンカは数年前から稲作農家も田んぼの一部に栽培しており、苗を購入して栽培するマリーゴールドとは違い、種子から始められるため栽培は容易であるという。この実態の詳細については、今後も調査が必要である。また、アジサイは現地聞き取りによると近年導入されたものだという。栽培地はバリ島でも高地に限られ、青色のホンアジサイのみを栽培している。多様な品種が存在するアジサイだが、バリ島では栽培が容易であるという理由でこの1品種のみが栽培されている。市場での販売価格は、上記2種よりも高く、青色の花は他に代用が見られなかった。以上のような花は、伝統的に使用されていたものとは異なるという住民もいる。人々の生活様式の変化と合わせて、さらに現地調査する必要がある。
