项目摘要

本研究は1）教団の始祖（教祖）と見做されたスーフィーと、2）教団の実質的な運営者、そして3）教団組織という3者に注目することで、スーフィー教団という組織をスーフィズム思想という面から考察する事で、現代まで継承されるスーフィズムの源泉としての中世期スーフィズム思想の役割を明らかにするものである。3者の思想的な関わりの様子を、①教団の始祖とされたスーフィーの思想を教団運営者がどのように理解し、取捨選択を行ったのか、②始祖の思想は教団においてどのような役割を果たしたのか、という2点に着目し資料から読み解いた。特にメヴレヴィー教団の思想的始祖であるジャラールッディーン・ルーミーとスルタン・ワラドの著作を精読し、その結果を“The View on Virtue and Vice by Sultan Walad: A Comprehension of Iblis”（ Journal of the Institute for Sufi Studies, vol. 1-1, 2022, pp. 15-26）として論文とした。上記論文においてはルーミーとスルタン・ワラドの師弟論と善悪論を比較検討することで、始祖の思想を後継者がどのように受容し、活用していったのかを明らかにした。師弟論においてはルーミーが互いに激しく求めあう恋愛関係のような関係性を良しとしたのに対し、スルタン・ワラドは弟子の訓育、教導に重きを置いていた。またルーミーが善悪はいずれも相補的であるとして必要悪についても認める態度であったのに対し、スルタン・ワラドは悪は悪であるとして善との過度に密な関係を嫌った。またそうした悪に対し立ち向かう、勧善懲悪的な側面も見られた。このようにスルタン・ワラドは始祖の思想の解釈を基本としつつも、教団を運営するにあたり有効と考えられる議論を積極的に展開していたことが指摘できた。
