项目摘要

2022年度は5月まで論文の執筆を継続しつつ、4月よりWilliam Carlos Williamsの基礎研究も並行し行った。（１）詩集The Collected Poems of William Carlos Williams (1986-88)を読み込み、分析、（２）関連書籍の収集、（３）資料の精査を行った。結果、平易なことばで民衆に詩を開いた彼独自の詩体における視聴覚の関係性を明らかにした。8月に8日間、米国議会図書館で資料収集をした。事前に図書館員と連絡をとり、必要な資料に関する情報を得、現地では資料を読み込んだり、参考文献リストをもとに、新たに必要となる資料に関する情報を得た。結果、20冊ほどの新たな資料に関する情報を得ることができた。その中に、調査を予定していたPolytopics Club に関する資料があり、活動や運営の実態を明らかにすることができた。また、アーカイブ化されているWilliamsのリーディング音源を聞き、読まれた詩作品や詩人のコメントをまとめた。そこから派生し、モダニズム期のポエトリー・リーディングにおけるラジオの役割についても見識を深めた。成果は論文にまとめ投稿する予定である。本研究は、Walt Whitmanを中心に、19世紀～21世紀米国の著名な詩人の作品とリーディング活動を通して、詩を読み書くことの社会的意義と「共感」を生み出す芸術的戦略を明らかにすることを目的としている。本研究では声の役割に注目し詩作した詩人の作品と活動に着目し、詩が果たす社会的役割と朗読の効果を考察し、ポエトリー・リーディングのモデル研究を行うものである。
