本研究では、日英語疑問文とその関連現象に対して質と量の両面からアプローチすることで、個々の形式・意味機能・音声にまつわる諸特徴を記述・説明すること、また、それらの言語情報が視線や表情などの非言語情報とどう作用し合うのかについて明らかにすることを目的とする。本研究は、言語学内に留まらず、異分野融合を積極的に推進するものである。現在、分析の対象している現象として、①「何なら」の典型用法・新用法、②ナント型感嘆文、③日英語条件付き謝罪、④日英語修辞疑問文がある。これらの現象に関する研究の2022年度実績を以下にまとめる。まず、①に関しては、現在までに2本の論文掲載実績がある（2020年度は査読無論文、2021年度は査読有論文）。2022年度は新用法の調査を引き続き進めており、当該用法に関する論文を2023年度中に国内学会誌に投稿予定である。また、②については、2020年度に査読無論文を公開したが、2022年度に当該論文に関する追加調査を行い、再び査読無の形ではあるが論文が掲載されている。2022年度末には、これら2本の論文を拡大修正する形で国内学会誌への論文投稿を行い、査読の結果待ちとなっている。③は、2022年度から着手し始めた研究であるため、論文掲載の実績はまだないが、2023年度には口頭発表とそのプロシーディングスの掲載を予定している（HCS研究会にエントリー済み）。④については、2022年度までの研究結果を踏まえ、2023年度中に国内学会誌への論文投稿を目指しているが、③における研究が順調に進めば、そちらの論文の国内学会誌への投稿を優先する。
