2022年度はウランバートルにあるモンゴル国立中央公文書館で長期的な史料調査をおこなった。その過程で、近世モンゴルにおけるジェンダー秩序の解明のためには、先に当該社会の家族について明確にしておく必要があることに気づいた。しかしながら、管見の限りこの問題については実証的研究が乏しく、特に一般庶民の家族についてはほぼ何も明らかになっていない。そこで、当該時期に家族関連案件を調整する過程で作成された公文書を収集した。秋に帰国した後は収集した史料を再読し分析した。まず取り組んだのは養子縁組の問題である。特に近世までの養子縁組とは家の機能を維持するために行われることが多く、モンゴルにおいても相続は無論のこと、介護や養育のため養子縁組が行われていた。こうした養子縁組の事例を分析すると、そこにもやはり性差が明確に看守できた。養子および養親の性別は、かかる養子縁組の目的によって一程度規定されていた。近世モンゴルの家族史研究は緒に就いたばかりであり、他地域との比較、相対化が求められている。また、養子縁組を通して故意に構築された「家族」がどのような課題を解決しようとしていたのかについては更に研究が必要であり、そうした研究を通して当該社会の家族のあり方、その社会的役割を解明することが次の課題である。なお、当該年度の史料調査から、前年度までの研究成果の一部に修正が必要であることも明らかになった。すなわち、女性が直接に当局に通報したり訴訟を起こしたりする事例があることである。前年度まではそうした史料を見つけられず、女性の事案はその父や兄弟の名前を以て報告された事例しか見つからなかった。一方で、文書の署名を見ると男性の識字のほうが女性よりも圧倒的に高いことが知れた。総じて、当該年度は史料調査とその分析に時間を費やした年である。次年度以降はその成果を広く公表し、他の研究者と議論し、理解を深めたいと思う。
