项目摘要

近代日本において水陸交通が盛んであった淀川流域・利根川流域・東海地方の主要な5流域を対象に歴史GISの手法を用いて水陸交通の地域的変化について研究を進めてきた。本研究では日本の近代水陸交通が英国と比べて，時間的・空間的にどのような地域的変化がみられたのか，共通性の有無などを比較検討し，水陸交通の変化がもたらした地域の影響を明らかにする。2022年度は下記の1）2）の研究を行った。1）まず，2021年度に継続して，英国での現地調査に向けた事前調査（研究機関における所蔵資料の確認）を実施し，British LibraryやNational Waterways Museum，The National Archives（英国立公文書館）で閲覧可能な水陸交通に関する史資料を確認するとともに，資料やデータを入手した。次に，2023年2月27日から3月6日に，英国・ロンドンで現地調査を実施した。今回は2012・2013年に実施した調査との比較を行うため，ロンドン市内を流れるRegent's Canalをメインとした。具体的には，2/28，3/1・2にRegent's Canal調査（約13.5kmを3区間に分けて実施，London Canal Museumで資料収集），3/3に英国立公文書館資料調査，3/4にRegent's Canal調査（約13.5kmを一日で実施）を行った。2）研究代表者が所有している英国の水陸交通に関する史資料からGISデータベースの構築を行うとともに，日本の淀川流域を中心にGISデータベースの更新作業を行った。2023年3月には淀川流域で舟運が盛んに行われていた伏見港に関する古文書群を入手した。この資料は江戸時代から明治期までの変遷がわかる貴重なもので，膨大な点数であるため，2023年度にその解析を進めていく。

Study on the transformation of land and water transportation in modern Japan This study compares the modern land and water transportation in Japan with that in the United Kingdom, and discusses the changes in time and space and the changes in geography, the existence and absence of commonality, and the changes in land and water transportation. 2022:1) 2) Research and development. 1) In 2021, the British field survey was conducted in advance (confirmation of data collected by the research agency), and the British Library, the National Waterways Museum, and The National Archives were able to view historical data related to land and water transportation. In March 2023, a group of ancient books related to the transportation of ships in the Yodogawa River Basin was started. This data has changed from the Edo period to the Meiji period, and the number of expansion points has increased. The analysis of the year 2023 has advanced.
