本研究の目的は、企業がデジタル・プラットフォーム上で創作されたUGCを商品化する際の意思決定に対して、複数の仮説検証を行うことである。研究者はこれまでに収集したデータに基づいて分析モデルを構築し、複数回のパイロットテストを実施し、検証予定の仮説の形を確定させた。ここまでの研究によれば、UGCの商品化は短期的にはオンラインにおいてもコンテンツの注目度を高めるが、その効果は期間限定的であり、より中長期的な影響を与えるのは「コンテンツの更新量」と「コンテンツ改変の有無」である。つまり、企業が商品化するUGCのコンテンツを（オンライン上においても引き続き）定期的に更新し、改変することで、長期的な影響を与えることが可能になる。一部のコントロール変数（主に発行レーベルと期間別アクセス数）に関するデータ収集、データ購入がまだ完了していないため、最終的な仮説検証結果はまだ得られていない。仮説検証を完成させることの具体的意義、重要性は下記のとおりである。①デジタル・プラットフォーム上でのUGCの商品化について、企業が持つべき戦略への示唆が得られると期待される。②既存研究では研究者の関心によってUGCの市場販売実績とデジタル・プラットフォーム上のUGCのアクセス数(コンテンツ注目度)が成果指標として使い分けられているが、両者の関係についてはほとんど議論されていない。本研究は定量データを用いてこの点についても検討できる。③デジタル・プラットフォームでの価値創造と価値獲得の一体化は世界的な潮流であるが、日本の出版産業におけるUGCの商品化は複数の優位性を抱えており、先進的モデルとして他産業への一般化についても期待できる。
