本研究は、沖縄のパイン産業を冷戦期アジア太平洋の社会構造において捉え、アメリカ主導の研修事業にかかわった移民ネットワークの働きをまず明らかにし、そのうえで米軍占領下沖縄は複数の移民ネットワークが交錯する結節点であったのではないか明らかにするものである。具体的にはおもに以下の２つの課題に分けて研究を進める。１つ目は、農業実習生を沖縄からハワイへ派遣するプログラムについて、移民ネットワークとの連関を軸に分析するものである。２つ目は、沖縄のパイン産業において重要なアクターである華人ネットワークのかかわりについて分析するものである。2022年度は、沖縄からハワイへ農業実習生を派遣するに至った経緯およびそのアクターについて、資料の収集および整理をおこなった。また、戦後日本からアメリカへ農業実習生を派遣した事業との関連や、沖縄から留学生や研修生を派遣した他のプログラムとの関連についても資料を収集した。さらに2022年度は、まず昨年度までに収集した資料をもとに、同志社大学＜奄美－沖縄－琉球＞研究センターのシンポジウムと日本移民学会年次大会において、米軍占領期沖縄のパイン産業における技術の導入と人びとの移動経験にかんする報告をおこない、シンポジウムでの報告者および参加者と議論を深めた。また、今年度収集した資料も併せて整理し、米軍占領期沖縄からハワイへの農業実習生派遣事業に焦点を当てた報告を2023年3月の日本農業史学会シンポジウムにておこない、シンポジウム報告者およびコメンテーター、参加者と議論を深めることができた。
