本年度は、訓練をうけた院内通訳者とアドホック通訳者の通訳の正確性とコミュニケーションパターンの特徴からそれぞれの通訳者の役割を明らかにするために、2017年と2019年、2020年の2月～3月の75日間に収集した外国人患者受入れ拠点病院で院内通訳者または患者が連れてきたアドホック通訳者が介在した診療場面の音声データを用いて、通訳者が元の発言（原発言）を変更して訳出した通訳変更を行なった特徴を量的分析により検討した。院内通訳者の通訳変更の種類は、ネガティブの「省略」と「言い換え」、ポジティブの「自発的発言」が多かった一方、アドホック通訳者はネガティブの「省略」と「自発的発言」が多かった。院内通訳者の「言い換え」は、原発言の日本語表現が難しいやポルトガル表現にない、原発言が切れ目なく長い場合に発生していた。他方、アドホック通訳者の「自発的発言」は、通訳者が対話者として診療に参加する場合に生じており、役割交換をすることで患者にとって必要な情報が欠如していた。これらについては、さらに詳細な分析が必要である。分析過程で生じたポルトガル語の発言内容や通訳変更に関する疑問点（通訳変更して実際にわかりやすくなっているのか、適切な用語や表現が選択できているのか、患者に伝わっているのか、など）は、日本語とポルトガル語を話すバイリンガルの研究協力者に内容ならびに音声データの確認を依頼し、協議して疑問を明確にし、解決した。あわせて、医療スタッフならびに医療通訳者へのインタビュー調査（または、フォーカス・グループ・ディスカッション）の実施にむけて、チーム医療における医療通訳者の役割と、医療者と医療通訳者の協働方法を検討する目的で、先行研究レビューを行っている。
