本研究は、まとまったレポートリーをもち、「楽譜」による再現演奏が可能な西洋最古の音楽とされる「グレゴリオ聖歌」の成立状況を、現存する写本史料の詳細の分析と学際的なアプローチから解き明かそうとするものである。本年度の最大の成果は、グレゴリオ聖歌の著名な楽曲の一つである〈アヴェ・マリア〉Ave Maria に関して考察を行い、その成果を論文として発表できたことにある（『上智史學』67号、35-49頁）。この論文ではこれまでにない詳細な文献学的考察により、上記の楽曲の起源を東方教会の典礼に遡るとする諸説との史料的根拠を批判した。その結果、『新カトリック大事典』の記事など現在の定説に対して、いくつかの重要な修正案を提示することができたと思われる。その他には、西洋中世音楽史における重要な研究動向の紹介（『西洋中世研究』14号、227-228頁）や、西洋中世の文化の魅力を広く伝える書籍への寄稿（『西洋中世文化事典』2024年出版予定）を行った。また、我が国の2022年度における西洋中世史研究全体の学界動向に関する記事も著した（『史学雑誌』132編5号「回顧と展望」号［2023年6月発行予定］）。ヨーロッパにおける史料調査については、新型コロナウィルス感染症の世界的流行のために困難を極めたが、2023年3月に約2週間の日程で実施することができた。フランスのディジョン、ヌヴェール、クレルモン＝フェランの県文書館を訪問し、司教座聖堂参事会に関連する手稿史料を調査し、その一部をデジタルカメラに収めることができた。

This study focuses on the possibility of reproduction of the most ancient Western music, the establishment of the most ancient Chinese music, and the detailed analysis of the existing historical materials. This year's greatest achievement is to review and publish the results of Ave Maria's research (Shangzhi Shishi 67, pp. 35-49). This paper is a detailed review of philology, a critique of historical materials on the origin of music and ceremonies in the Eastern Church. The results,"New Events" notes, current comments, important amendments, tips, thoughts, etc. An introduction to important research trends in the history of Western medieval music ("Western medieval studies" No. 14, pp. 227-228) and a book on the charm of Western medieval culture ("Western medieval cultural history" scheduled for publication in 2024). In 2022, China's 2022 academic trends in the study of Western medieval history were recorded ("History Annals" No. 132, No. 5,"Review and Prospect"[scheduled for June 2023]). A survey of historical data on the prevalence of new infections in the world is extremely difficult. The schedule for about two weeks in March 2023 will be implemented. A survey of manuscripts and historical materials related to the Church Counselor's Committee was conducted in a number of departments.
