本研究は、1920年代に日仏芸術社が運営した地方都市でのフランス美術展の実態調査を行い、当時のフランス美術普及への貢献や人々への反響を明らかにするものである。調査研究は、デジタルデータの調査と実地での文献調査によって行われ、展覧会の実施概要に加え、広報、普及活動などの関連活動および、関連人物や団体への影響を対象とする。当該年度における研究活動としては、調査が主な活動となり、デジタル化された資料を中心とする収集と整理、具体的には展覧会の実施概要等に関する未収集資料の調査、および各地域の美術館・博物館、資料室との連携による、資料の補充、リストアップを行った。デジタル化された資料の収集および整理に関しては、国立国会図書館および筑波大学附属図書館のデータベースを中心に行い、これまで詳細が明らかになっていなかった開催回数の少ない都市における調査を重点的に実施した。また、特に北陸地域における展覧会に関しては、後述する実地調査と合わせて資料の充実を図った。地域の美術館・博物館との連携に関しては、金沢、富山、高岡の北陸３都市における展覧会の調査を重点的に実施し、計画時よりも早い段階での実地調査を行った。展覧会の入場者数が多くないという理由で、これまであまりスポットの当たることが少なかった富山、高岡における展覧会が、地域の美術愛好家や画家に影響を与えていることを示唆する資料が発見され、本研究の目的である、展覧会史や地方文化史に対して日仏芸術社が与えた影響の一端を明らかにすることができた。加えて、個々の作品に対する追跡調査にも一定の進展が見られ、いくつかの作品について展覧会での展示などをきっかけとして、日本での現存および所蔵が明らかになり、現在に残る影響の手がかりとなるデータを得ることができた。
