2022年度は、唐・白居易の詩篇「長恨歌」における仏伝の受容について指摘し、その意義を考察した。「長恨歌」は『竹取物語』が成立した９世紀に日本にもたらされ、物語作者層に享受されていた作品である。物語文学が誕生した背景に迫るため、９世紀の文学圏における仏教（漢訳仏典、仏教思想）の受容を調査するという本研究の目的から、「長恨歌」における仏伝受容の考察は、大きな意義を持つものといえる。調査の具体的な結果としては、「長恨歌」後半に登場する仙界の玉妃（仙女となった楊貴妃）が、来訪した道士に託して地上の皇帝に向けて発したことばに、仏伝経典『仏本行集経』の受容を指摘した。『仏本行集経』では、修行の旅に出てしまった夫・釈尊に向かって、取り残された妻の耶輸陀羅が訴える悲嘆のことばが記されるが、そこには「長恨歌」の玉妃のことばと重なる要素が複数認められる。このことから、「長恨歌」の玉妃のことばは、仏伝の耶輸陀羅のことばを受容していると考えた。また、その背景として、仏典のなかの煩悩をも切なる感情として共感的に見据える白居易のまなざしを想定した。以上のように考察したうえで、「長恨歌」における仏伝受容を、『竹取物語』におけるそれと比較した。両者の仏伝受容の類似点に注目し、『竹取物語』作者や彼を含めた物語作者層が、「長恨歌」の仏伝受容を学び、それを創作に活かしていた可能性について言及した。また同時に、両者の仏伝受容の差異にも着目し、『竹取物語』作者が、煩悩や執着といった感情を、天界・仙界の存在ではなく、あくまでも地上のか弱い人間のものとして位置づけたことを重視して、その点に素朴な古代伝承とは異なる物語文学の特質を見た。
