研究計画書において研究の目的として掲げた課題のひとつとして、第三共和政前半の都市計画の誕生の経緯を整理しその延長にル・コルビュジエの都市計画を位置づけることがある。当該年にはこの課題に取り組み、その成果を「ランボーによる「都市の設計」──散文詩「都市」からル・コルビュジエへ」（『常盤台人間文化論叢』第9号、2023年3月、p. 33-52）として公表した（なお本研究論文は、同じ時期の文学と都市を取り扱った研究課題である「フランス第三共和政における文学と都市計画──ゾラとトニー・ガルニエ」と当該研究を架橋するものでもある）。もちろん本研究は研究上の枠組みとして文学研究に位置づけられるわけだが、上記のようなル・コルビュジエの都市計画史における位置づけを再検討するにあたって、ランボーの散文詩「都市」を起点としてランボーとル・コルビュジエを結びつける視点を提示することができた。確かにランボーとル・コルビュジエはほとんど接点がなく通常なら無関係と見なすべきであろう。これに対して本論考ではランボーの「都市」に現れる「plan de la ville」という表現、とりわけ「plan」という語に着目することで、ル・コルビュジエにいたる第三共和政における都市計画の問題を再検討しうるのではないかという主張を行っている。ただしあくまでも比重を第三共和政期における都市計画の流れの再検討においたため、ランボーのテクストの読解は十分に展開することができなかった。当初の研究計画からは若干逸れることになるが、フランス第三共和政期の文学と都市計画を問題にするにあたって重要な論点を提示できる可能性があるため、このランボーの「都市」の読解は今後の課題のひとつとしたい。また当該年度は、新型コロナウィルス感染症の感染拡大による海外渡航が制限されたため、当初の想定よりも圧縮したかたちでスイスにおける調査を実施した。
