本年度は、年度別研究計画に従い、研究の基礎となるデータの収集と分類を中心に行った。まず本研究の基礎となる語彙の対象一覧を作成した。基本的には「ユーキャン新語・流行語大賞」に選ばれた語句、「ＪＣ／ＪＫ流行語大賞」に選ばれた語句をリストアップした。リストアップした語句は計1,111語の中で、収集したデータを、変遷の特性に応じて基礎語彙、派生語彙、消滅語彙、定着語彙の４つに分類することを挙げたが、まず定着語彙について調査をした。定着語彙とは、辞書などに載る語彙と定義をしており、今回の研究では、リストアップした語彙が広辞苑に掲載されているかどうか、また、掲載された場合はいつから掲載され始めているかを調査するため、流行語大賞が始まった　 1984年以降に出版された広辞苑の第４版から最新の第７版までをチェックし、検証を行った。また、本研究は数値を中心に流行について検証するものであるが、広辞苑においてはどのような基準で掲載を行っているのかについても問い合わせをし、岩波書店からの回答ももらった。また、テストケースとして、リストアップしたデータからいくつかを抜粋し、Twitterにおけるツイート数を収集した。収集したデータを一部利用した業績として、研究論文が１編（研究分担者が第一著書）および研究発表2件がこれまでの実績としてあげられる。特に、情報工学の観点から分析を行ったものとなっており、今後の言語学的研究への基礎となる業績となった。
