構文、句、語、命名の４層において個別の拡張的使用の実態を記述、分析するとともに認知言語学的な観点から統合的な動機付けを与えるという本研究の目的に即し、研究代表者、研究分担者がそれぞれの研究を進め、3月に開催された報告会において全メンバーで検討を行った。研究代表者の森は語の拡張的使用の基盤となる比喩の相互関係について研究を進めた。また、命名の拡張的使用に関しては、森(2020)「認知命名論の試み―表示性・表現性と命名認知モデル―」で提起した命名認知モデルとLangackerの動的使用依拠モデルの接続をはかる発表を報告会で行った。研究分担者の八木橋は、構文・句に関する拡張現象の分析を進め諸論考を学会等で発表するとともに、3月の報告会ではshell noun construction(SN構文）のなかでも「理由の導入」という談話機能に関わる構文の拡張現象に特化した発表を行った。研究分担者の高橋は構文領域に関する論考を公表するとともに、Why don't youとWhy not構文の使用実態と拡張現象に特化した発表を3月の報告会で行った。研究分担者の大橋は、句領域の研究に関する近年の潮流を整理し、今後有望であるテーマを開拓することを進め、また「創発的文法」論と認知言語的な句拡張論の接続もはかり、その成果について、報告会で発表した。日本語と英語に対象言語がまたがり、また認知言語学をバックボーンとしつつもややスタイルの異なる研究者の交流と相互検討によって、それぞれが進めている領域についてさらなる進展が与えられ、多くの領域にまたがる拡張現象の統合的な動機付けについて今後の展望が見い出せたと考えられる。
