当研究では無敬語地域における配慮表現の調査研究を通して有敬語地域での配慮表現との比較を行いつつ，無敬語地域の配慮表現の実態を解明することを目的としている。無敬語地域の地域コミュニティの多くは成員間の結びつきが強固であり，コミュニティ自体が地縁関係にもとづいて組織されているケースが多く，ウチ社会を基盤としたコミュニティであると考えられる。現代日本語の配慮表現の使い分けの目安とされてきた目上／目下，ウチ／ソト，心理的・社会的距離の遠近，親疎関係，恩恵の有無などといった基準は有敬語地域においては当てはまるが，ウチ社会をベースとした無敬語地域にも無分別に当てはめて比較することに注意を払わなければならない。無敬語地域では一般的に敬意表現や配慮表現が有敬語地域と比較して希薄に見えるのはウチ社会独特の言語行動の規範となるメカニズムが存在するためではないかと思われる。これを当研究における仮説とし，配慮表現等について精査することにより，この仮説が成り立つか否かを検証する。無敬語地域では成員間の関係が都市部と比較してより緊密であり，ウチ／ソトといった関係も，都市部とは異なり，ウチ社会のみをベースに形成されていると考えられる。無敬語地域では一般的に敬意表現や配慮表現が有敬語地域と比較して希薄に見えるのは，このような要因が大きく関与しており，ウチ社会独特の言語行動の規範となるメカニズムが存在するという仮説を提示することができる。上記のような仮説を検証するため、対面による調査や、通信によるアンケート調査を進める予定である。当該年度は、大阪府岸和田市、奈良県吉野郡天川村、三重県志摩市を線で結んだ近畿地方南部域を無敬語地域であると記述した（荻野綱男編（2022）『敬語の事典』の「近畿地方の敬語」。さらにこれを実証するため、当該年度において十津川村、上北山村、田辺市などで調査を実施した。
