2022年度は、これまで収集してきた17世紀末から20世紀末までの動詞研究から、事例考察に基づいた在時制表現に関する論考・見解を精査することに中心を置くと共に、それらと18世紀における実際の使われ方との呼応具合を調査しつつ検証を重ねた。特にPickbourn (1789)とLangacker (1991)の共通点・相違点を通し、英語の現在時制の形態素の役割、単純現在形・現在進行形・現在完了形という３つの現在時制表現それぞれの特性及び三形式間の役割分担、それらと「状態性」との関係について考察を進めた。上記については、特に英語の現在単純形が「変化が認識されずどの時点で見ても同じ全体像が把握できる」状態を表し、状態だからこそ迂言形でない形で表せる点を、alwaysの類の副詞に修飾された単純現在形と現在時制のBe+V-ing形の具体的事例を通して、2023年4月8日に英語し研究会における講演の一部に含めた。また、単純現在形と現在Be+V-ing形との意味機能の相違と構文全体では両者「状態」を表す共通点を、通時的・共時的、かつ包括的に説明できる原理について2023年開催される国際語用論学会、国際認知言語学会のアブストラクトに纏め、採択された。同時に、Subjunctive（仮定法現在）とIndicative (直説法現在）との関係についても18世紀の書簡資料等における調査を開始した。内容については、その現実味にcommitせず（立ち入らず）現実とは切り離した純粋に命題を表す形で、Though節等の譲歩節や条件節If節に現れる一方、when節に生じた例は検出できなかった。
