本研究では、協働学習の場としての英語多読活動が、いかに学習者の動機や学び続ける気持ちに働きかけ、持続させることができるのかに着目している。しかしながら、調査を進めていくにしたがって、そもそも英語多読活動が学習者の動機や学習意欲などを含む情緒的な側面にどのように働きかけているのかに関する実証的な検証が不足していることに改めて気が付いた。そこでR4年度については、英語多読活動が学習者の情緒的な側面にどのように働きかけているのかに焦点をあてて研究活動を進めることとした。佐々木・上田がこの数年注目してきた「読解不安」に関する研究を発展させ、読解不安の軽減に英語多読活動が果たしている役割について検証した(学術論文として出版)。当該論文においては初中級レベルの大学初年次生を対象とし、英語多読活動の導入とともに読解不安が軽減されるのか、また、軽減されるとしたらどのような側面に特に働きかけているのかを検証した。その調査結果をもとに、異なる属性(中級レベル以上の2年次生)の対象者における読解不安の軽減の現れ方との相違点を検証すべく調査を進めており、それを今夏に国際学会で発表予定である(発表申請採択済み)。また、学術的な調査のみならず、英語多読活動をより広い対象者に普及すべく、シンポジウムなどの啓蒙活動も行った(備考欄を参照のこと)。当該シンポジウムでは、英語教育、日本語教育の両側面から見た多読活動について、両言語の学習者、教育関係者、関連分野の研究者等の幅広い層を対象に、実践面、研究面から見た多読活動についての報告・情報共有を行った。

The English language is the most popular language in the world, and the most popular language in the world. When the group is organized, English education, Japanese education, multi-activity, language learners, educational relations, related research, etc. are targeted, implemented, and researched.
