本研究では、19世紀から現代にいたるまでのフランスを対象として、アーカイブズ制度の形成、発展と、19世紀を通じてその主要なユーザーとなった実証主義歴史学との関係を、国立古文書学校の設立経緯、研究・教育内容（特に文書学の位置づけ）、教員人事や学生の就職先、古文書学校出身者の歴史学実践およびキャリア形成、さらには彼らの自己認識の変遷などの検討によって、明らかにしようとするものである。その上で、アーカイブズ管理制度と歴史学との関係という問題を、古文書学校出身者のせまい世界を越えて、より広い視野での議論へと導くために、国際的な比較の観点から、日仏の研究者を糾合して議論するシンポジウムを開催する。2022年度は、フランスにおけるアーカイブス管理行政や国立古文書学校、さらには大学を始めとする高等研究教育の歴史に関する基礎的文献や資料の収集、整理を実施した。この際、文書資料に基づく近代実証主義歴史学の形成と変容過程全般を理解するため、17世紀から現代に至る幅広い動向に注意を払っている。特に、革命前からの文書学の形成と大規模な資料収集事業、ならびにそれらと古文書学校の形成過程との関係は重要な論点の一つである。研究成果としては、DX時代のアーカイブス管理およびそこで要請される情報管理専門職養成のあり方の変容について、学会で報告するとともに、論文を執筆した。また、アーカイブス学やこれに密接に関係する文書学、偽文書論、印章学やフランス国立古文書学校についての概説を準備中である。
