本研究計画の研究対象は、キリスト教、イスラーム、ユダヤ教を統べる「三宗教の王」や「賢王」といった別名で知られている、13世紀のカスティーリャ王アルフォンソ10世である。同王の対異教徒政策および彼が促進した文学・美術における異教徒描写を検討し、中世イベリア世界の多文化共生の実態を解明しようとすることが研究目的となる。学芸全般に深い関心を抱いていたアルフォンソ10世は、多様なジャンルの写本を編纂させたことで知られている。そうした写本のうちの重要な一冊である『チェス、さいころ、盤上ゲームの書』のファクシミリ版を、慶應義塾図書館が、管見の限り日本の図書館で初めて所蔵することとなった。これは研究分担者である瀧本の尽力によるものである。同図書館は、すでに、別のアルフォンソ10世写本である『聖母マリアの古謡集』のファクシミリ版も所蔵していたため、これら二作品の解説をまとめ、慶應義塾大学日吉紀要に共著論文として投稿した。これが本年度のもっとも重要な研究実績である。この論文では、本科研プロジェクトのメンバーに加えて、イスラーム美術史家である鎌田由美子氏の参加を仰いだ。各自が自分の専門分野に即した一章を担当する形で、アルフォンソ10世の生涯、彼の治世下のカスティーリャ王国とイスラーム諸国を含めた周辺国の状況、これらの写本に関する基本情報、その内容や意義、装飾や挿絵の美術史上の特徴などを簡潔にまとめた。
