本研究は、昭和１０年代に文部省が推進した国体明徴政策について、政治思想と政治過程の交錯、思想的政策の実態と限界、内務省や陸海軍、知識人や政治運動との関係などの検証を行なうことを目的としている。そこで、まずは植村が教学刷新評議会の議事録分析を行ない、文部省の国体明徴政策の出発点を明らかにする作業を進めている。同評議会は昭和１０年から１１年にかけて文部大臣を議長として開催され、外局として教学局が設置される際に重要な役割を果たした。この分析による新しい知見として、当時の文部省の思想的立場と大東文化協会の思想的立場とに強い関連性があることを特に挙げておきたい。大東文化協会は大正１２年設立の財団法人であり、「皇道及国体に醇化せる儒教」の振興を目指して大東文化学院を運営していた。他方で昭和１０年代の文部省は、東洋文化と同じく西洋文化も国体に醇化して活用すべきとの思想的立場を採っており、この立場は大東文化協会の立場を発展させたものと位置付けることが可能である。実際、大東文化協会関係者は天皇機関説弾劾の重要な担い手となり、あるいは、教学刷新評議会の熱心な委員となっていた。天皇機関説事件の責任を問われて教学刷新評議会設立に至る政治的な流れの中で、この協会関係者が弾劾側で重要な役割を果たしていたのである。この時点に限らず、文部省と大東文化協会の人的・思想的な関係には強いものがあり、大正から敗戦までの長期的な視点での検証作業が必要であると考える。研究組織内でこの知見を共有するとともに、植村は教学刷新評議会第１回総会での議題設定を追跡した研究成果を『産大法学』で公表し、両者の関係の解明作業に着手している。研究組織内では、文部省外部の知識人として特に筧克彦と斎藤しょう（日へんに向）に注目し、それぞれの思想的立場について情報を共有して、文部省との関係について議論を進めている。
