(中平) 本研究では、自然利子率の低下をもたらす日本の長期的・構造的要因、すなわち、少子高齢化による人口構成と労働生産性の変化、そして技術進歩停滞によるトレンド成長率低下の可能性などを導入しながら、自然利子率と日本経済の関係を探る。2022年度において、研究代表者の中平は、自然利子率の推計法におけるフィルター(フィルタリング)の応用に着目して、日本における自然利子率の推計を行った。まず、推計プロセスとしてKanoh(2006)の手順による実質短期金利の推定を行った。次に、それに基づいてホドリック=プレスコット・フィルターの適用による自然利子率の推計、さらにはバンドパス・フィルターの応用による推計を行った。この成果は2022年12月における「ケインズ学会第12回年次大会」で学会報告し、さらに、“Simple Estimations of the Natural Rate of Interest and the Expected Inflation Rate, Discussion Paper Series, No.379(The Institute of Economic Research, Chuo University)の形で原稿として公表した。(長原) 本研究課題となっている自然利子率は、先行研究において、一定の条件の下では実質利子率と同義に扱われている。そこで、研究分担者の長原は、実質利子率の議論を最初に生み出したといわれるアーヴィング・フィッシャーの初期の文献をサーベイし、「名目利子率＝実質利子率＋期待インフレ率」で定義されるフィッシャー方程式の理論化の観点から自然利子率の考察を行った。この成果は2022年12月における「ケインズ学会第12回年次大会」で報告した。(薮田) 自然利子率について、その経済的把握の方法に関するレビューを行った。

This study explores the relationship between low natural interest rate and Japan's long-term structural factors, population structure, productivity change, technological stagnation, and low natural interest rate.
