子どもの健全な発育のためには、重要他者（主に母親）との相互作用で形成する愛着が重要である。本研究の目的は、母子の愛着形成を支援し、関係性を重視した母子の健全な成育過程を確保することを目指して、子どもと母親の間に生じる母子間の相互作用の客観的指標を確証することである。そのため、乳児とその母親を対象とし、非侵襲的な近赤外光組織酸素モニタ装置、脳波モニタ装置を用いて可視化される、脳酸素代謝動態と神経活動を母子同時に育児場面で収集し、脳酸素代謝、神経活動それぞれの母子間の律動的同期性（母子相互作用）を確認する予定であった。また、児の月齢や栄養法、育児場面ごとの違いを確認し、脳酸素代謝、神経活動の母子間の律動的同期性に関連する因子の抽出も視野に入れていた。母子相互作用や愛着と称される目には見えない親子のつながりに関する現象を客観的に母子の同期性の視点で生理学的・神経学的に明らかにし、周産期・乳児期の成育支援プログラム作成につなげていくことを視野に入れている。令和2年度は、コロナの終息に目途が立たず、医療施設への立ち入りが叶わず、特に感染症に脆弱性を有する新生児・乳児を対象とする本研究は、実施することが困難であり、データ収集は全く行えなかった。令和5年度は、規制の緩和に伴い、データ収集が可能となる。非常勤職員を雇用する等して、着実にデータ収集を行う予定。
