2022年度は、文化心理学的・社会生態学的要因の特徴によって内在的公正推論（ある人物に偶然起こったネガティブな事象を、そのような因果関係が物理的に生じ得ないにもかかわらず、その人物の過去の道徳的失敗に原因帰属すること(例：悪いことが起こったのは、その人が悪い人だから)）が強まる可能性を検証するために、日本国内での調査、および、 他文化圏でデータを収集するための準備を行った。調査の前段階として、まずは思考スタイル尺度（Choi et al., 2007）の邦訳版を著者への許諾をとった上で作成した。本尺度は、東アジアで優勢であるとされる包括的思考スタイル、北米などで優勢とされる分析的思考スタイルの個人差を測定するものである。内在的公正推論は、物理的な因果関係がない2つの事象に因果関係を見出す傾向であるため、このような思考スタイルの違いが公正推論の文化差を生じさせている可能性がある。邦訳版尺度の作成に加え、今後の研究で刺激として用いる、偶然性の高いネガティブ事象の選定、ならびに統計データの整理を行った。その際、交通事故死亡率や感染症による死亡率などの「選択的運」と呼ばれるものと、台風や地震といった自然災害による被害などの「自然的運」と呼ばれるものに分類した。選択的運は、自然的運と比較して、当事者に対して内在的公正推論が行われやすい可能性がある。以上のようなネガティブ事象の種類と発生確率との組み合わせに基づいて、本研究で刺激として用いるのに妥当な事象を選定することとした。
