順序関係分析は，心理測定尺度に含まれる項目間の順序関係を，項目間相関と平均値差に基づき判定し，尺度全体の半順序構造を樹状図により可視化し，測ろうとする特性の意味構造を明らかにするための分析手法である。これまでに開発した順序関係分析の分析プログラムは，特にグラフィック機能の面で改良の余地があった。また，既存の他の分析手法との関係等，理論的基礎付けが未だ不充分であった。本研究はこれらの残された課題に取り組み，順序関係分析の理論と方法を確立しようとするものであり，具体的には以下の３つを目的としている。(1) 順序関係分析に関する理論的検討＜Ｔ(=Theory)系統＞(2) 順序関係分析のための分析プログラムの改良＜Ｐ(=Program)系統＞(3) 順序関係分析の様々なパーソナリティ尺度への適用＜Ａ(=Application)系統＞令和４年度は，主に(2)について作業を進めた。2016年に公開した，順序関係分析のためのＲプログラム初版（Yanagida & Sakai, 2016）では，尺度の半順序構造を表す樹状図は２次元的に表現されていたが，これを３次元的に表現し，尺度全体と個々の尺度項目との関係を，樹状図における木の幹と枝との位置関係で表せば，より数理的情報量の豊かな樹状図となる。この３次元樹状図の描画プログラムの開発については，Larissa Bartok氏、Philipp Gewessler氏（オーストリア連邦教育研究所）の協力を得て進めてきた。両氏とは2019年のオーストリアでのミーティングを最後に，パンデミックの影響で直接会ってのミーティングは行えていないが，メールでのやりとり等によりプログラム改良に向けた準備作業を徐々に進めており，令和４年度中はそれらの成果を整理する形で，３次元樹状図の描画プログラムをほぼ完成させ，細かい手直しを残すのみとなった。
