本研究は、作業担当者の手作業で仕上げるコンクリート床下地の凹凸精度を確保するために適切な労力コストを示した施工メニューを提示することを目的としている。研究初年度は、上面仕上げ作業を担当する業者が自作しているマニュアルを複数社分集め、共通点を把握した。さらに、作業内容を分析するとともに作業担当者へのヒアリング調査を実施し、各作業が凹凸やその他の主要な表層部品質にどう影響するかを分析した。作業担当者のマニュアルは、基本的には作業手順とその具体的方法(あわせて『施工仕様』という)だけ書いてあれば必要十分であり、作業が品質に及ぼす影響などは通常は記載されていない。余分な情報は、施工仕様を確認する際に必要な情報をかえって探しにくくする、むしろ冗長なものとなる。しかし、その結果、施工管理担当者には各作業の必要性が伝わらず、工費削減・工期短縮を優先するあまり、性能確保のために必要な作業まで省略された施工仕様を提案してしまうことが、残念だが非常にしばしばあるという。今年度の成果は、こういった悪習に歯止めをかけるのに必要な情報を整理できたと位置付けられる。さらに、作業担当者不足が問題となっている中、志望してくれた貴重な人材に対する新人教育として親切な入門テキストという役割も担うことができる。すなわち、まだ新人の作業担当者は、ひとつひとつの作業・方法の理由に対しての理解が、当然不十分であるが、作業が性能におよぼす影響を理解することにより、早期の技術向上が望める。また、凹凸と並ぶ床下地の重要な表層部品質にひとつである含有水分量に関し、最も一般的な測定方法である水分計法について、実験研究により学術的な位置付けを明らかにした。
