NASHモデルに対するエロビシキバット単剤投与、コレスチラミン単剤投与、エロビキシバットとコレスチラミン併用投与による効果は確認しており，今回発癌モデルに対して、エロビシキバット単剤投与群(E群)、コレスチラミン単剤投与群(C群)、エロビキシバットとコレスチラミン併用群(EC群)と設定し、発癌に対する効果を検討した．まず，発がん物質であるジエチルニトロサミン50 mg/kgを6～12週齢に2週間毎に腹腔内投与を行い，4週齢からAMLN食（高脂肪高果糖高コレステロール食）を与え，32週齢において肝臓内の発がんを確認した．普通食群を与えられた場合は，平均腫瘍数3.1個，平均腫瘍径2.2mmであったが，AMLN食投与されたNASH群では平均腫瘍数23.9個，平均腫瘍径14.7mmでああり有意に発癌を認めた．さらに発癌モデルであるNASH群に治療薬（エロビキシバット，コレスチラミン）は，24週-32週まで投与を行った．結果として，NASH群で有意に高くみられた腫瘍個数、腫瘍最大径は、エロビキシバットとコレスチラミン併用投与により，平均腫瘍数16.1個，平均腫瘍径8.7mmと有意に抑えられた．エロビキシバット単剤投与（平均腫瘍数25.0個，平均腫瘍径9.7mm），コレスチラミン単剤投与（平均腫瘍数36.0個，平均腫瘍径15.0mm）に比べ，発癌効果も高いという結果が得られた．原因としては，NASHの病態改善，肝機能改善に伴う，発癌予防効果であると推測している
