糖尿病およびその関連因子が末梢動脈疾患、特に包括的高度慢性下肢虚血の病態進展（予後・重症度）に及ぼす影響を明らかにすべく、全国多施設の循環器内科・血管外科の協力を仰ぎながら、糖尿病の関連情報を含む末梢動脈疾患・重症虚血肢患者のデータベースの構築を引き続き進めるとともに、研究の作業仮説に応じてこれらを個別に、あるいは統合して、縦断的、および横断的に解析を進めた。まず、大腿膝窩動脈病変に対する薬剤溶出バルーン治療の前向きコホート（公開研究名：「大腿膝窩動脈病変を有する症候性閉塞性動脈硬化症患者に対する薬剤溶出性バルーンを用いた末梢血管内治療に関する多施設前向き研究」）のデータベースを用いて、症例背景と病変分布との関連について分析した。その結果、膝窩動脈への病変局在は喫煙と負に関連し、末期腎不全と正に関連していた一方、糖尿病は関連を認めないことが明らかとなった（J Atheroscler Thromb, doi: 10.5551/jat.64007）。さらに包括的高度慢性下肢虚血患者の前向きコホート（公開研究名：「重症下肢虚血患者に対するアンギオサムに基づいた血行再建術の有効性に関する多施設・前向き観察研究」）のデータベースを分析し、包括的高度慢性下肢虚血患者における社会的孤立の実態を明らかにした（Sci Rep, Vol.13, pp.1933, 2023）。また、糖尿病患者における末梢動脈疾患、特に包括的高度慢性下肢虚血の進展リスクを明らかにすべく、下肢血流障害の進展リスクに関連する情報を含む糖尿病患者のデータベースについても、構築を進めた。
