项目摘要

【研究目的】本研究の目的は、インド北東部の丘陵地域と低地の大都市、そして海外をつなぐ広大なネットワークを構成するマイノリティ集団の社会に関する歴史的動態を研究することによって、地域独自に展開するエスニシティと市民社会のなりたちを明らかにすることである。平成26年度は、研究対象地域であるインド北東部、ミゾラム州における植民地統治開始以前から第二次大戦後までのエスニシティの変容を明らかにすることを試みた。また、その変容過程において、多様な他者（植民地行政、低地の人々、近隣の類縁山岳民族、大戦期における日本軍）との関わりがいかなる影響を及ぼし、エスニシティの変容と政治・社会運動がどのように結びついていったのかを明らかにしようとした。【現地調査、史料収集】平成26年度は、インド、ミゾラム州において約2か月の現地調査と史料収集を行い、首都デリーの国立公文書館にて約3週間、1940～50年代の研究対象地域における植民地行政史料を収集した。ミゾラム州内での現地調査では、ミャンマー国境近くの村落を数か所訪ね、第二次大戦中に日本軍から爆撃を受けた建物跡を見学し、当時を知る高齢者から聞き取りを行った。また、別の村落では、第二次大戦期に英軍に従軍し、ミャンマーやコヒマの戦いに参戦した元軍人の回顧録や写真を収集した。【成果発表の内容】　植民地以前から戦後までの対象地域におけるエスニシティの変容を歴史的に分析することによって、ナショナリズムを必ずしも目的論とせず、宗教的アイデンティティをも含んだ倫理を問い、村落や既存の範疇を超えるという意味では普遍的ともいえる連帯の基盤となる共同態の「名」として、ミゾ・エスニシティが立ち現れる様態を明らかにした。
