项目摘要

1. 初年度に行った「図形の横方向配置における心理的等間隔」判断実験の続きとして、図形の組合せの種類を増やして視覚心理実験を行った。実験の概要は次の通り。参照図形は1辺2cmの正方形2つを間隔a=1cmで横に並べたもの、目的図形は1辺2cmの正方形と次のうちからの1つを間隔xcm(xは可変)で横に並べたもの:直径2cmの円盤、1辺2cmの菱形、縦横各2cmの十字形、直径2cmの円盤の右半分を切り捨てた半円、直径2cmの円環、1辺2cmのロ字型正方形、1辺2cmの菱形を水平な中心線で分割して上下を入れ替えた図形。被験者はグラフィック端末に表示された参照図形と目的図形を比較しつつ、xがaに等しく見えるように目的図形の間隔を調整する。得られたデータxを、被験者を水準とする1元配置、図形を水準とする1元配置でそれぞれ統計的に分析したところ、すべての被験者に判断の一貫性があること、しかしそれらの判断パターンが幾つかのタイプに類別できること、全体を通じてMuller-Lyer錯視と類似の現象があること、が見出された。2. 印刷文字に対する外接多角形から導かれる重心と慣性能率楕円を定義し、代表的な6種の平仮名書体各48文字についてそれらの数値を求めた。その結果、重心の垂直座標は全体的に下方に位置すること、および重心の水平座標は縦方向配置における視覚上の中心線を決定することに使えることを見出した。前者の性質は、対象とした平仮名文字がいずれも横組みを意識してデザインされたものであることに対応すると考えられる。
