本年度は、2022年4月14日から7月14日、さらに2023年1月9日から3月8日の２回に分けて約５ヶ月間の現地調査を実施し、データの収集を中心に研究を進めた。１回目の現地調査では、農家が契約農業に参加する要因を明らかにすることを目的として実施した。そのために、農家が置かれている社会経済的状況からその要因を検証した。主な成果は、以下の三点である。一点目は、これまでのグループでの契約を停止し、個人の契約へ移行した経緯をグループのリーダーの聞き取りから明らかにした。二点目は、91名の農家に対して質問票調査を実施し、各農家の社会経済的属性と、現在の商業的作物の栽培状況に関するデータを得た。三点目は、調査地近郊の都市における市場と、調査地で生産された農作物の出荷先の都市における市場で調査を実施した。これにより、調査地における農作物の流通状況を明らかにした。２回目の現地調査では、調査地における季節変化を含めて分析するため乾季に調査を実施し、①いかに乾季に農業用水を利用しているか、②乾季における契約農業の運営実態の２点を明らかにすることを目的とした。農業用水については以下のことが明らかとなった。調査地では、主にエンジンポンプを使って小川の水を汲み上げて灌漑を行う方法が取られていた。公的には小川から給水することは禁止されているため、農家は夜間に汲み上げ、ため池に貯水している。また、経済的に余裕のある農家は圃場近くに井戸を建設し、地下水を利用していた。さらに調査地では、公共政策として重力灌漑が敷設されており、一部の農家はそれを利用していた。契約農業については、乾季に契約農業を実施できている農家は2世帯のみであり、乾季における代替的な作物選択となっていないことが明らかとなった。
