交代制勤務者は睡眠や食生活が不規則になり、ホルモンバランスの乱れが生じるなどが原因で、心身の不調をきたしやすい。交代制勤務の健康への影響として、睡眠障害、一部のがんリスクの増加のほか、月経不順や不妊などの女性特有の問題があり、これは離職の原因となるうる。女性特有の問題の一つに、月経前症候群（Premenstrual Syndrome）がある。症状や程度の違いはあるが、月経前になると、多くの女性が不調を感じており、症状の一部である集中力の低下や睡眠障害、頭痛などは、仕事の効率を低下させる可能性がある。看護師は、約90％が女性であり、この女性特有の問題は、看過できない。そこで本年度は、交代制勤務を行う女性と、そうではない女性（対照女性）を対象に、月経前症状や生活習慣に関する調査を実施した。新型コロナ感染症の影響を考慮し、交代制勤務を行う女性は看護師に限定しなかった。解析として、交代制勤務を行う女性群と対照女性群の月経前症状や生活習慣の比較、交代制勤務を行う女性における、月経前症状が軽症の者、重症の者の生活習慣の比較などを行う予定である。
