项目摘要

本研究では、世界最短の詩、俳句を題材にして、曖昧性と美の評価の関連を多面的に検討した。まず、俳句の曖昧性と美は負の相関を示すことが先行研究で明らかにされていたが (Hitsuwari & Nomura, 2022)、この結果は、曖昧性が俳句鑑賞において重要であることとは乖離していた。そこで、俳句の曖昧性を段階的に評価させることで、曖昧性の変化に着目した。その結果、曖昧性が高いところから低くなっていく過程で美しさの評価も上がることが明らかになった。この成果は、審美性の心理学領域でトップジャーナルであるPsychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Artsに投稿され、現在修正再審査中である。また、曖昧性への態度を測定する「多次元曖昧性への態度尺度」を利用して、俳句の鑑賞と創作が個人特性にどう影響するかを検討した。Zoomセッション内で、俳句の鑑賞と創作を行う前後で本尺度への回答を行った。その結果、俳句の鑑賞、創作を経て、曖昧性への態度の1側面である「絶対主義（物事の白黒をはっきりつけたくなる傾向）」の得点が低下していった。この成果は、国際学術誌であるThe Journal of Creative Behaviorに投稿され、査読の結果、受理、オンライン掲載された。さらに、俳句の段階評価を行う実験を、脳機能を測定できるMRIの中で行った。その結果、より美しさを感じる俳句で、左中側頭回と左縁上回が活性化した。左中側頭回は、一貫した、かつ秩序だった情報処理を反映しており、曖昧性がなくなった後のスムーズな鑑賞を表していると考えられる。左縁上回は、文学的なクオリティに関係している。このように、心理実験、オンライン調査、MRI実験などを行い、多面的に俳句の曖昧性と美の関係を明らかにしてきた。VUCAの時代において、曖昧性を受け入れるような態度は適応的であると考えており、常に曖昧性を持つ俳句の鑑賞や評価には、そのパーソナリティを変容する力があると期待している。
