本研究の目的は、日本語と中国語それぞれにおける“場所格交替”に着目し、動詞の意味と構文の意味の関係が、人間の文の処理・理解にいかなる影響を与えているのかを実験ベースで明らかにすること、ひいては意味と構文をめぐる論争一般に対し、言語横断的な実験データを提供することである。具体的には、１）容認性判断実験によって、動詞の意味と構文の意味が文処理に及ぼす影響を検証すること、２）１）の結果を踏まえ、自己ペース読文実験を併用することで動詞ごとの意味と構文の意味の関係が文処理に与える影響を検証すること、を計画していた。１）に関しては、場所格交替に見られる全体的解釈と呼ばれる現象について、構文の意味解釈が文処理に与える影響を調べた。本研究では、42名の日本語母語話者を対象として自己ペース読文実験を行い、その読解時間（リーディングタイム）を計測した。その結果、全体的解釈が取りにくい文脈を用意した際に、移動構文の方でも時間の遅れがみられた。つまり、全体的・部分的解釈の両方が可能とされる移動構文であっても、全体的解釈が優先的にコミットされることが示唆された。この研究成果は、国際学会（The 35th Pacific Asia Conference on Language, Information and Computation (PACLIC 35)）に論文を投稿し、オンラインでポスター発表を行った。２）に関しては、実験デザインについて再考する必要が生じたため、実施することができなかったが、実験の準備として、中国語において構文交替が可能な動詞の類型に関する提案を、7月に『中国語文法交流フォーラム』にて発表した。今年度で採用期間は終了することになるが、全体計画の七割程度を完了しており、以後もこの研究を継続する予定である。
