本研究は、中山間地域の農山村を後背地に抱えた在郷町を対象に、中心機能に着目した集落空間の変容と、在郷町と農山村の結びつきの変容の両者を捉えることによって、近代以降の町場としての集落空間の実態とその成立背景を明らかにするものである。これによって町場という側面から見た各在郷町の集落空間の特徴を見出し、今後の地方都市の生活拠点としての空間像への示唆を得る。2022年度は、1)在郷町の抽出、2）近代の集落空間形成過程の解明、3）在郷町の周辺農山村との関係性の変化の分析について研究を進めた。1）については、北陸3県の在郷町を抽出した上で、その成立過程と集落類型を分析した。さらに各在郷町の立地条件を分析し、特に研究対象として取り上げる在郷町を選定した。2）については、先行調査として1つの在郷町を選定して明治時代から1970年頃までの土地台帳や土地貸借契約証綴等の歴史資料の分析を行った。その結果、土地所有が近代以降の町の公共施設立地に影響を与えていることを明らかにした。在郷町が固有に持つ空間的特徴を分析するための着眼点が判明し、他の在郷町に調査を展開するための基礎的となる成果を得た。3）については、各在郷町周辺の農山村の旧町村史を主とする郷土文献資料を網羅的に収集した。特に1つの在郷町を取り上げ、自動車普及以前の 1960 年(昭和 35)頃までの周辺農山村の交通インフラ整備履歴に着目しながら、在郷町周辺の往来の実態を解明した。この調査によって、在郷町と周辺農山村との関係性の変容における産業と生業の重要性が明らかになり、2023年度以降の研究の着眼点を得た。

The focus of the analysis of the characteristics of the inherent holding space in Yucho was clarified, and the results of his basic investigation in Yucho were achieved. 3) Collection of local literature data collected in the village history of rural villages around the town In particular, before the popularity of automatic vehicles in the town, in 1960 (Showa 35), the traffic conditions in the surrounding rural areas were clearly observed, and the traffic conditions around the town were clearly explained. This survey was conducted in the context of the importance of industry and business in rural areas around the city, and the focus of research on health in 2023 was achieved.
